I love these beach scenes by Eric Fishl. They have a large dose of iconic American vitality and yet remind me a lot of the European Coastal beach towns. One of my favorite being Sitges, Spain, which I visited with my husband, sister and friends some years back. His pieces create a life I want to frequent and a place where I certainly want to people watch. The strokes and palette remain true to the light of the coast and the humor in his works keep me captivated, yet searching for more.
He is known, in large part, as one of America’s greatest nude painters because of his demonstration of the active human anatomy. The smooth movement of the strokes gives the figures beauty and magnetism. Here are some examples of his dynamic watercolors.
