After a crazy day with the boys, Bobby and I snagged a sitter and decided to walk down for drinks. One of our favorite things to do after a busy day is take a walk down for wine and cheese. One of the benefits of life in town is being two blocks from a lovely little wine bar with local vineyard wines and fruit delights.
I wore a maxi dress, which, when the weather gets warmer, I’ll show the amazing back or lack there of. I rocked my wooden wedges (maxi striped post) to give my legs some length and kept it simple for day time. Here’s how to get the look.

“Twenty-five years ago interiors were very fussy, but luxe today is space, air, and light.” says Christian Liaigre.
-Elle Decor Magazine
I have included a yacht sketch because I find the cross over from furniture design to yacht design to be amazing! They are two things close to my heart, as I lived on a yacht for some time. They are very similar, yet so drastically different in their functions. Yachts are extremely complicated to create with the elements constantly at play, so designing an airy, light yacht space is quite the challenge.
Liaigre opens a showroom in New York and Miami and is not going to be exclusive to the trade. I love when designers do this, because fans and designers come from all arenas.

With completely crazy weather and confusion of what to wear this Spring, I played it safe with silk, leather and Leopard print shoes.
Here’s a peek into my dressing room. After many sundresses, I went with solids. It actually snowed last night, so it was a good choice. The key was chic comfort. I really, really wanted to wear a beautiful sundress because…well…it’s APRIL!! But, cold and discomfort makes for terrible conversation. So…Leopard and Leather it is.
I wasn’t the only one. Birthday girl went leopard too!
There was an amazing food truck with ladies and mustaches. So much fun!
All in all, great outfit, great night. Happy Birthday, Birthday Girl! The End.

Sending off the last day of earth week with super chic, organic designer, John Patrick. Just because it’s organic doesn’t mean it has to be drab. His pieces are feminine and strong. They give women a less complicated true beauty.

Today is one of those days where I have a thousand ideas gushing through my mind. Here are is one. Just because it is recycled, doesn’t mean that it has to be earth toned and limited. Here are two awesome pieces that reflect creativity and green innovation. Also…easy on the wallet.
This is also great idea if you have a shelf system that is in need of refurbishment and you’re will to take the risk and spice it up. You can use your recycled mags and newspapers to give it some new energy.
Topanga Shelves Materials: Available in Kraft Paper or Newspaper. Recycled post-consumer paper pulp that keeps it lightweight and glues are water-based and nontoxic
This chair is made of an army tent. How cool is that?
Walter Chair Materials: Upholstery: Recycled Army Tent Charcoal or Natural Canvas; Frame: Reclaimed Teak or FSC Certified Beechwood

One of my favorite resources, which I seem to be able to use almost anywhere, is twine. It’s amazing and can be used over and over before it wears out. This is a way to display and rearrange your photos very effortlessly using the twine as your support.
All you need are your pictures,
miniature clothes pins,
Being in love with all things decorative, I have many, many pictures and pieces of art. If I framed them all, it would cost a fortune. This is a really easy way to display your works by using the twine you already have. One of the things I love most about this technique is there is little to no installation, so the photos can move around your home with ease. Mine have so far floated, from mantle, to mirror, to chair.

So…one of my sweet Bugs, Hollywood, thinks he deserves to make a home on my faux Cheetah pillow. What do you think? He’s saving the Cheetah’s one faux pillow at a time. He is also the one helping with all of the whole digging for earth week. Thanks to Hollywood, we have gotten 3 wintergeens in the ground, in 3 days.

With earth week in full swing and with everyone trying to make a better attempt to save our environment, here are some chic answers to eco friendly clothing and jewelry.
One of my all time favorite designers is Pippa Small, who prides herself on using organic gems, such as shells, beads and sea washed glass to create jewelry. I had the pleasure of working with her in my Art Career about 7 years back and sold her work at a Gallery in London. Being just out of school, working at a gallery and broke, I wasn’t able to purchase any of her jewelry, but I did try it on and used to tease my husband that I know will have made it big when I own a piece of Pippa Small jewelry. I’m still working on it. She is one of the most down to earth people I’ve encountered in the industry and an amazing inspiration in her jewelry design and Anthro work.
Through her anthropological studies and love for the arts and jewelry making, she now combines her gem work and travels with helping indigenous communities. Namely, one community she focuses on are the Batwa Pygmies of Rwanda. During the Christmas holidays when I worked at the gallery, Pippa had brought back some sculptures which the Pygmies had made in hopes of generating some income for the community. The story alone sold the work immediately and Pippa’s initiative is the reason the pieces made it to the UK. She is an inspiration worldwide for her many courageous ventures.

Today is the first day of Earth Week, which is traditionally celebrated with Earth Day on April 22nd. Alas, my Eco roots run deep (thank you family) and I’m going to celebrate with my other Eco friends all week-long. Every post is going to be an ecofriendly post and my little tots and I are going to plant a bush or tree everyday this week.
Recycled Magazine Collage Artist Patrick Bremer
Magazine Collage Art – Patrick Bremer
I feel the world is a better place with Patrick Bremer’s Art in it. The flow and dynamic function of the repurposed magazines gives me great satisfaction. Successful collage is not an easy task and one that can relay emotion is even further more difficult. I think I probably have a keen eye for his work as well because the toddler looks like my son Wyatt and the boy like my son Hayden.
Magazines…I have a million. Every subject in the title of this blog I have about 20 magazines for off-hand. Here are some ideas to reuse/recycle your mags. I’m currently trying to switch over all my mags to either emags or ipad editions, but I still splurge on the ones I love because there is just something about a piece of print in your finger tips.
